Chesley Hulan at the age of 86 years was promoted to “Angel in Flight” after his passing at the Bay St. George Long Term Care Center, Stephenville Crossing, NL on Tuesday, October 6, 2020.
The story of Chesley began on July 4, 1934 when he became the son of Silas and Isabelle Hulan of St. David’s, NL, along with his 12 siblings. Rex Hulan (deceased), Betty (Billy-deceased) Alley, Eldred (Madeleine) Hulan, (deceased), Marjorie (Charles) Alley (deceased), Rodney (Edith) Hulan, Winston (Louise) Hulan, Junior (Shirley) Hulan, Hilliard (Linda) Hulan, John (Kathy) Hulan, Verna Hulan Gillis, Debbie (Fred) Legge and Shirley Hulan.
Chesley leaves behind the mother of his children Josephine Hulan; daughter Audrey (Claude) Bennett; son Danny (Sandra) Hulan; grandchildren: Christopher, Claude Jr., Tyler, Kelly, his many nieces, nephews and extended family. As well as special niece, Trudy Legge.
In his early years, Chesley worked at farming, fishing and construction work on the Newfoundland and Labrador railway. In later years he ventured off to Ontario where he lived and worked in chrome and steel factories until returning to Newfoundland upon his retirement.
Chesley was a gentle soul with a free spirit who always loved a laugh and an adventure. He enjoyed his cold beer and cigarette while guessing quite a few answers on his favorite TV show, Jeopardy. He could also belt out a tune on harmonica and the spoons.
An inurnment service will be held at St. Michael & All Angels Anglican Cemetery, St. David’s, NL on Monday, October 12, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Norman Cutler officiating.
A special thank you to the staff of Crosswinds, Robinsons and to the Bay St. George Long Term Care Chronic Unit staff for the love and support shown during his brief time there.
As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Michael & All Angels Memorial Fund or a Charity of Ones’ Choice.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Stephenville Crossing, NL.
