Passed peacefully away on Friday, November 7th, 2008 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Marie Matthews at the age of 87 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories is her sister: Jacqueline Joseph; many nieces, nephews, extended family and a very large circle of friends. Predeceased by her parents: Mary Matthews (nee Simms) and Fred Matthews; brothers: Fred, Herb and Gerald; sisters: Pearl and Bernice. Visitation will take place from Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Marks Avenue on Saturday, 2-4 and 7-9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 9th at 2:00 p.m. from The Cathedral of St. John The Evangelist, Main Street. Reverend Michael Rice officiating. Interment to follow at Mt. Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bay of Islands S.P.C.A.
