It is with sorrow that the family of Calvin Bernard McCarthy announce his passing on Friday, August 24, 2018 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook, after a short and courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 74 years. Left with loving memories are his daughter Jannelle, Calgary, Alberta; his five sisters: Audrey (Tom) Drake, Grace (Garland Parsons), Linda (Fred) Wilcox, Rosalind (Peter) Michael, Gloria Hayes (Murray Deceased); brothers: Glenn (Dorothy) and Terry, also a large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Bernard and Nora McCarthy, and nephew Robert Michael. Calvin worked and lived in Toronto for over 50 years, but his wish was to come home, we are very grateful to our family for making it possible. We would like to thank the doctors and staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Toronto and to our own Western Memorial, you made a daunting task bearable. Thank you to West Jet airlines, you were the best. Thank You to Father Terry for giving Calvin his last rights. To caregiver Judy White for your exceptional nursing home care and to our brother Terry for your understanding and compassion. A private funeral service and interment will take place. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Charity of One’s Choice.
