Obituary of Lily Selina Keats

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Lily “Lill” Selina Keats announce her passing on August 6th, 2018 at the Labrador Health Centre in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, NL, at the age of 93 years surrounded by her family.

Lily will always be remembered for her competitive edge: her love for darts, bowling, softball, hockey, curling, broomball, and especially backgammon. She had great love for her many German Shepherds, and she had an everlasting desire to learn which shined bright in her late 70’s when she learned how to make Labrador slippers, initially to give to her family but later to supply the local craft shops.

Lily will be sadly missed by her husband: Heber; Children: Juanita (Guy), Rosalyn (Rev. Wayne), Bill (Clara), Dennis (Wanda), Gary (Janet), Dianne (Neil), Debbie, Dee (Keith), Heather (Veronica), Donna (Sherry); 14 Grandchildren; 15 Great Grandchildren; Brother: Jim; Sisters: Laura, Rosalie; Sisters in law: Dee and Margie; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Lily was predeceased by her Parents: Barton and Eliza; Brothers: Herb, Ken, Wilfred, Johnny, Abe, and Alex.

Friends and Family are welcome to visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home on Wednesday August 8th, 2018 from the hours of 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday August 9th, 2018 at 2:00 pm at the St. Andrews Anglican Church in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, NL with Rev. Nellie Thomas officiating with interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery.

As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made in Lily’s memory to Special Olympics H.V.G.B. Howling Huskies. The family would like to send special thanks to the staff at the Labrador Health Centre, the St. Clare’s Hospital, and the Nunatsiavut Government for all the care and support they provided to Lily over the years.
