Peacefully went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 27th, 2007, George Blackmore, at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Center. Born February 5th, 1928 in Channel Port Aux Basques. He was predeceased by his parents Richard and Amy (nee Parsons) Blackmore; brothers: Gerald, Reginald and John Blackmore, and father-in-law Robert Savory. He leaves to mourn his wife Eileen, with whom he shared 53 precious years of loving marriage. He will also be lovingly remembered by his 3 sons: Robert (Evelyn), Port aux Basques, David (Debbie), Halifax, and Paul (Jean), Elmsvale; sisters: Lillian Barnes, Washington, Elizabeth (Clayton) Carter, North Sydney and Marguerite White; brothers: Gordon and Winston (Diane); step-father James Parsons; mother-in-law Susie Savory; sisters-in-law: Ruth (Stan) Ledrew and Bessie Blackmore, all of Port aux Basques; 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and life long friends. Visitation was held at Fillatre’s Funeral Home on Saturday 7-9 p.m. and Sunday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service was held on Monday, July 30th at 11:00 a.m. from St. James Anglican Church with Rev. Canon Hugh J. Fudge officiating. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery, TCH.
