November 8, 1920 - June 6, 2007
The family of Gladys Belle Sutton announces with great sadness her passing at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital, June 6, 2007 at the age of 86 years. She will be sadly missed and leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her daughter, The Rev. Rosemarie Payne, Corner Brook; son, Donald Sutton (Patricia), cherished Grandson, Graham Sutton, Corner Brook and loving grand-doggie, Angel. She is survived by her sisters: Pearl Parsons, Corner Brook and Carrie Ryan ,Port Saunders; brothers: Howard Hamlyn (Josie), Walter (Margaret), Albert ,Port au Choix; Fred (Clemmie), Gander; Sisters-in-law: Eileen and Hazel Hamlyn, Corner Brook. As well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends from the Hamlyn, Payne and Sutton families. She was predeceased by her husbands Charles Lionel Payne in 1954 and John Charles Sutton in 1983, parents Emily and Cyrus Hamlyn, five brothers George, Thomas, Richard, Robert and C. (Bud) Hamlyn, two sisters Edna and Iola. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will take place at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, Main Street with The Very Rev. Michael Rice officiating on Monday, June 11 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made in loving memory of Gladys Sutton to the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist “Lighting The Way,” for the upgrading of sanctuary lighting.
