It is with great sadness that the family of Sidney Battiste announce his sudden passing on Saturday, February 24th, 2007 in the United States, at the age of 52 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories his wife Ethel Battiste (nee Stroud); son Troy Battiste; daughter Tammy Farrell; grandchildren: Dawson and Noah Farrell; son-in-law Derrick Farrell; daughter-in-law Amanda Vanblitterswyk; mother Maggie Battiste; brothers & sisters: Bruce (Ruby) Battiste, Paul (Crystal) Battiste, Guy (Paula) Battiste, Michael (Shelley), Barbara Mesa, Elaine (Ken) Fraser, Julia (Rob) Ingram and Kimberly Battiste; brothers & sisters-in-law: Gary (Nancy) Taylor, Hartley (Shirleyann) Taylor, Kay (Garland) Chant, Wavey (Eldon) Short and Madeline (Darren) Munden; aunts & uncles: Theresa Francis, Eva (Bill) Dollimount, Jessie Skinner, Florence Skinner, Elizabeth Battiste, Barbara Battiste, Regis Battiste, Melvin (Mary) Skinner, Fred (Pauline) Skinner and Sam (Sharon) Skinner, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was predeceased by his father Gerald Battiste; mother-in-law Dorothy Taylor and father-in-law Leslie Taylor. Visitation was held at St. Michael’s & All Angels Anglican Church in Rose Blanche on Saturday, March 3rd between the hours of 10:00 a.m. - 9:30 p.m. and Sunday, March 4th from 10:00 a.m. - 9:30 p.m., from where the Funeral Service will take place on Monday, March 5th at 2:00 p.m. officiated by Rev. Ken Abbott. Interment followed at Hillside Haven Cemetery in Margaree. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted or donations may be made to Ethel Battiste.
