NAOMI AGNES LEWIS Corner Brook, NL October 13th, 1906 - February 5th, 2007 It is with great sadness that the family of the late Naomi Lewis announce her passing at Western Memorial Regional Hospital at the age of 100 years. She was born at Silverton, Bonne Bay, the daughter of Henry Norris and Elizabeth Janes and grew up at Stanleyville, Bonne Bay. She was a pioneer when she moved to Corner Brook in 1924. Construction work was just starting for both the paper mill and the town. She married John Lewis in 1928 and they started married life on East Valley Road, then moved to Reid Street where she lived for 52 years. On Reid Street she always had a lovely garden that was admired by many passers-by and many times she shared her flowers with neighbors so they would have bouquets to put on family graves at the cemeteries for flower services. She moved to the Seniors Cottages at the Interfaith Home in 1982 and enjoyed having flower beds for 24 years until in 2006 she had to leave because of failing health. She was always interested in what was happening in the world, both near and far. Left with many wonderful memories are daughters: Jean (Leslie) Coombs, Corner Brook, NL, Verna (Thomas) Corder, Perryville, AR, USA, Margaret Ormandy, Mississauga, ON; sister Emma Janes, Deer Lake, NL; brother-in-law Foster Lewis, Meadows, NL. She is also survived by grandchildren: Dr. Heather Coombs, Montreal, QC, Brenda (Terry) Anstey, Corner Brook, NL, Bruce (Kim) Coombs, Pasadena, NL, Craig (Lamonda) Corder, Maureen Corder, both of Little Rock, AR, Neil (Michele) Corder, Conway, AR; great-grandchildren: Andrea and Matthew Coombs, Pasadena, NL, Derek and Raegan Corder, Conway, AR; step-great-grandson Michael Clamp, Corner Brook, NL; step-great-granddaughters: Savannah, Brianna and Hannah Slape, Little Rock, AR. Also a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family will receive family and friends from 2-4 & 7-9 PM on Tuesday at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue, Corner Brook. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 7th at 11:00 AM from the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, Very Reverend Michael Rice officiating.
