<center>Corner Brook, NL Veteran Royal Navy</center> It is with great sadness that the family of the late George Sheppard announce his passing on Monday, January 5, 2004 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital, at the age of 82 years. George Sheppard served six years in the Royal Navy during World War II. He was a gunner on destroyer and battleships including the King George-V and the Nelson. His Armed Merchant Cruiser, the Petroclus, was torpedoed in the North Atlantic in November 1940 and he was wounded during the invasion of Italy in 1943. He was a gunner on the King George-V during the sinking of the Bismarck. He was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Mary, 2001, parents Gordon and Rebecca Sheppard and step-mother Mabel Sheppard. Friends may visit Fillatre's Funeral Home, 4 St. Marks Avenue on Tuesday, 7-9:00 p.m. and Wednesday, 2-4 and 7-9:00 p.m. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 8, at 10:30 A.M. from The Most Holy Redeemer Cathedral, Mt. Bernard Avenue. Fr. Edmund Camacho officiating. Interment to follow at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, flowers graciously accepted or donations may be made to the charity of ones choice.
