Mary leaves behind to celebrate her remarkable life her three daughters: Marilyn Saito, Joanne (James) Peddle, and Peggy (Gerald) Malone. She was blessed with 8 grandchildren: Mary Lynn (Tim) Patton, Kimberly Rideout, Stephen (Miyake) Peddle, Michael (Jacqueline) Peddle, Catherine (Brian) Scott, Colleen Malone, Thomas (Melissa) Malone, and Erin (Scott) Tiffany. She knew and loved dearly every one of her 17 great-grandchildren: Jordan, Allie, Kennedy, Evan, Beira, Rowan, Celeste, Linden, Alex, Tyler, Kelsie, Leah, Ethan, John Daniel, Abigail, Benjamin, and Charlotte. She will be especially missed by her special friend Karen Robertson, her sisters-in-law Linda Coombs, Brenda Coombs, Gladys Coombs, Isabelle Kaj, Mary Wiseman, her many nieces and nephews, and a large network of friends. Mary was pre-deceased by her husband Thomas Joseph Dunphy in 1984 and her parents Thomas Coombs and May (Finn) Coombs, her sister Joan, and brothers Jack, Reginald, Gerald, and Thomas. Mary was the perfect example of a life well-lived. She was Valedictorian and President of her 1942 graduating class at Mount Saint Vincent University. She was a teacher for many years, and wrote for the Western Star (as the only female on staff at that time). Mary loved to travel and explored much of the world with her husband Thomas. She raised a beautiful family and remained an active and vital force throughout her entire life. Mary was a Brownie leader, an award-winning actress in provincial drama festivals, and one of the original members of Beta Sigma Phi (Corner Brook). Mary embraced change and never shied away from a new challenge or opportunity. She was fascinated with technology and was excited about the opportunities that FaceBook provided her as a tool to connect with her friends and family (every day). Mary will remain an inspiration for all those who knew and loved her. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, January 3rd, 2018 from the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, St. Mark’s Avenue in Corner Brook. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 4th at 10:00 a.m. from Cathedral of The Most Holy Redeemer. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the charity of your choice. The family guest book may be signed by visiting www.fillatre.ca.</span></p>
