Ronald Young of St. George’s passed away on June 24th 2014 at STRH at the age of 77. He was born in Sandy Point to Francis and Elizabeth (Duval) Young and was no doubt welcomed by them in God’s embrace. He was predeceased by his sisters Annie Grandy and Marjorie Blanchard, also by his brothers Edward, Charlie, and Sandy. Ronnie was by all accounts a good man and remained a man of faith through his last days. He loved all things Sandy Point, the sea air, a good yarn, a funny joke, little kids and animals, old time country music, western movies, a good feed of lobster, spending time with his family, chats on the phone with his kids, telling silly stories and singing songs (especially to his precious Charlotte and Vanessa), and going for drives looking for moose with his dog Patches. Ron was an adored and devoted husband to his wife Ruth (Hannon) Young. He was a loving and cherished father to Christopher (Karen) Young of Wasaga Beach, ON and Jennifer (Jerry) Baranowski of Rocky Hill, Connecticut. He was also the beloved "Nanette" to Kellee (Scott) Bennett White, whom he loved as his own. He is also leaving to mourn his lifelong buddy and brother Pius (Stella), his stepchildren Larry (Sharon), Maureen (Ata), Wanda, Tim (Jackie), and Jeff and a large circle of nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren and great grandchildren, extended family and friends. The family would like to thank his homecare aide Harriet Perrier for the kindness, friendship, and care she showed Ron/Dad in his last 3 years. Ron doesn’t want tears-his suffering is done. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
