Obituary of Loretta MacDonald
Please share a memory of Loretta to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Loretta MacDonald (nee Gregory)

December 1, 1920 – June 3, 2014

Generous. Loving. Kind. Independent. Vibrant.

Loretta was well known and admired for her youthful good looks, her timeless style, her discreet generosity, and her remarkable independence.

An extraordinary athlete, Loretta excelled in the bowling alley, hit triple twenties on the dartboard and could drive the green on any par three on the golf course.

Loretta fiercely loved her family, immediate and extended, and provided unwavering support to them always. Her shining example showed all those she loved the truest meaning of family.

Her son Allan, and daughters Jeanette (Jim Dawe), Marilyn (Vic Saccoccio), Melinda (Bill Coles), Joan (Tom Carey); her grandchildren Sabrina Saccoccio (Adam Brodie), Suzanne Carey (Peter MacDonald), and Jacqueline Carey; and her great-grandchildren, Oliver and Jesse MacDonald and Ruby Mae Brodie Saccoccio are so grateful to have been in her circle of love.

Her beautiful sisters and dear friends Lorraine Traverse and Madelyn Reitzel have a lifetime of memories to cherish.

Another circle of love awaited Loretta the night she passed. Her husband, Joseph MacDonald, parents, Bride and Flood Gregory, brother Cyril Gregory, sisters Madonna Dooley, Imelda Gillam, and Bernadette Power. What a reunion!

We, her family, feel so very blessed to have had such a precious Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend.

We will be gathering and welcoming friends at Fillatre Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue on Thursday, June 5 from 2 – 4 PM and 7 – 9 PM. To celebrate Loretta’s life, a funeral mass will be held at the Cathedral of the Most Holy Redeemer on Friday, June 6, 2014 at 11 AM with a final farewell to follow at Mt. Patricia Cemetery. Donations to the Western Regional Hospital Foundation (Palliative Care Unit) are welcomed.

A journey completed. A life well lived. A beautiful legacy of love for all of us.
