MAHER ANASTASIA Victoria, BC (Formerly of Corner Brook, NL) We are very sad to announce the death of our mother, grandmother and friend, Anastasia Maher. She died peacefully of ALS in the early morning of August 28, 2005 at the Victoria Hospice, Victoria, B.C. Our father Bill predeceased Mom in 1978, but Mom trusted that he would be there at the hour of her death to take her home. Mudgie, as Mom preferred to be called by her grandchildren and other small people, is survived by her daughter: Peggy Maher and wife, Michele Gill and granddaughter, Kira; son: DJ and his wife Betty and grandsons, Joseph and Michael; daughter: Susan with whom she lived and daughter JoAnne and husband Ron Noel and their two children, grandson Liam (William) and granddaughter, Bridget. Mom is also survived by her sister: Mickey and three brothers, Bernard, Hubert and his wife, Shirley, and Gerard; sisters-in-law: Doreen Dolomount, Gertrude Maher and Mary Gould O'Reilly; brother-in-law : Peter Maher;. There are many nieces and nephews left to mourn her passing, as well as the friends of her children who depended on Mom for her wisdom and cooking. Visitation will take place from Fillatre's Funeral Home, 4 St. Marks Avenue on Friday from 7-9:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 3rd at 10:30 A.M. from the Cathedral of the Most Holy Redeemer, Fr. Edwin Gale officiating. Interment to follow at Mt. Patricia Cemetery. Flowers are lovely and appreciated, however a donation to the ALS Society would also be welcome.
