<p><span style="font-family: Calibri;"><span style="font-size: medium;">It is with heavy hearts and sadness that the family of the late Sam Batten announces his passing at the Fort Nelson General Hospital, Fort Nelson, BC on Sunday, December 15 in his 78</span><sup><span style="font-size: small;">th</span></sup><span style="font-size: medium;"> year.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;">Leaving to mourn his passing and remember his love are his wife, Marina (Dingwell) and 5 children: Basil (Vicky), Janice, Craig (Caroline) Darryl, and Dale (Daisy). Grandchildren: Dale, Jenny, Pamela, Crystal, Sean, Sabrina, Angela, Christopher, Carl and Cayden.&nbsp; Great-grandchildren: Cole, Chance, Kalik, Samantha, Ryann, Hayden, Logan, Dylan and Ashton.&nbsp; Brother Ronnie (Verna) and sisters: Doris Dwyer, Jean McGinn, Joyce (Eric) Fitzgerald, Barbara (Tom) Caines, Gloria (Jerry) Robertson and Ruth (Max) Patten and many nephews, nieces, relatives and friends</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;">Sam was pre-deceased by his parents, Samuel and May, parent in-laws, Clifford and Elfreda Dingwell; sisters Caroline Watton and Margarite Batten; great-grandson Tyson Kinch&nbsp; sister in-laws Marina Batten and Josephine Pretty;&nbsp; brother in-laws Jack McGinn, William Dwyer, Reg Watton, and Ernest Chaulk and nephews&nbsp; Christopher Puddister , Stephen Robertson, Barry Pretty and Jonathon French.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Calibri;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Friends may visit Fillatre&rsquo;s Funeral Home, 4 St. Marks Avenue on Saturday, December 28</span><sup><span style="font-size: small;">th</span></sup><span style="font-size: medium;"> from the hours of 2-4 and 7-9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 29</span><sup><span style="font-size: small;">th</span></sup><span style="font-size: medium;">&nbsp; at 2:00 P.M. from Fillatre&rsquo;s Chapel, St. Mark&rsquo;s Avenue with David Guzzwell officiating. The interment will follow at Mt. Patricia Cemetery. </span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;">The Batten family would like to extend our gratitude to all the staff at The Western Memorial Cancer Unit and Fort Nelson General Hospital for their attentiveness and loving care.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;">In lieu of Flowers, memorial donations in Sam&rsquo;s name can be made to the Gizeh Shriners of BC &amp; Yukon, the Western Memorial Cancer Unit, Fort Nelson Hospital Auxiliary or any preferred charity.</span></p>
