<p align="center">Lorna Pearl</p> <p align="center">Major</p> <p align="center">Corner Brook, NL</p> <p> </p> <p>It is with great sadness that the family of Lorna Pearl Major announce her passing at Western Memorial Regional Hospital on Monday, July 1, 2013.  Lorna was born in 1935 in Bridgeport, Notre Dame Bay, the third daughter of Arthur and Clara Boyd.  She moved with her family to Deer Lake as a teenager, where she soon met her husband of 60 years, Sam.  She lived most of her life in Corner Brook and Pasadena.  She had three children, Kirk (Tracy Carter), Craig (Debbie), and Sonya (Ian Hutchinson).  Lorna devoted her life to her family and had a special relationship with each of her grandchildren: Michael (Lisa), Carla (Robert Squires), Jennifer (Dave Duong), Stephanie (Joe Carroll), Celia, and Kelsey.  Recently her great-grandchildren Anna, Isaac, Sam, and Jack were a source of great joy for her as she struggled with ALS.  Lorna loved to cook, sing, sew and travel, and to have a laugh with Sam, good friends, and family.  She had particularly fond memories of singing with the United Church choir and the Glee Club in Pasadena.  Lorna was predeceased by her parents and her sisters, Nina Piercey and Eileen Jewer.  The family would like to express their gratitude for the kind personal care of Rhona Penney-Cromwell and Valerie Brett, and to Dr. O’Driscoll, the palliative care team at Western Memorial Regional Hospital, the ALS Society, and all of the friends and extended family members who helped out in so many ways. Visitation will be held at Fillatre’s Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 3<sup>rd</sup> from 2-4 and 7-9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the First United Church in Corner Brook on Thursday, July 4<sup>th</sup> at 2 P.M. with Reverend Whitehorne officiating. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to the ALS Society of Newfoundland and Labrador or to the First United Church. The family guest book may be signed a memorial donation may be made through our website www.fillatre.ca</p>
