BRYANT
PAYNE
Pasadena, NL
September 1, 1937 - June 19, 2013
It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we announce the sudden yet peaceful passing of Bryant Payne, age 75, at the Western Memorial Regional hospital in Corner Brook on Wednesday, June 19, 2013. Bryant loved conversation and delighted in having his family together to celebrate all occasions. He had a wonderful sense of humor, zest for life and enjoyed Newfoundland music, card games, moose hunting, and camping. Bryant was a kind and compassionate man who touched those around him in an extraordinary and uniquely friendly manner. Bryant was a family man whose children and grandchildren came first and his fatherly love and grandfatherly devotion and nurturing nature will live forever in the blessings he left behind. Regardless of where they lived the grandchildren quoted poppy in their day to day activities with "yes bye" and other colourful expressions which will be forever cherished in all of their hearts. He was a well respected member of the Orange Lodge; and the Masonic Micmac 25 lodge since 2004. Bryant was predeceased by his father and mother, Norman and Mary Ann (nee Gilley) Payne; brothers Alexander, Reginald, Leslie, Ellis, Obediah and Freeman Payne; and sisters, Emma Payne, Mary Payne, Hilda Roberts, and Hazel Parsons; parents in law Howard and Hepsey Biggin; brothers in laws, Jack Parsons, Gorman Payne, Reginald Roberts and Rex Knott; sisters in law Maudie Payne, and Judy Payne. Bryant will be forever missed and is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 50 years Elizabeth (nee Biggin); his two proud sons Peter (Joanne) and Paul (Manon); his three adoring daughters; Gillian (Robert) Piedalue, Janet (Gerard) Philpott, Ann Marie Small ( Don Stanford); and nine grandchildren who idolized their poppy: Mya and Cassie Payne; Marie Eve Payne; Kirsten and Katherine Ann Piedalue; James and Samuel Philpott; William and Victoria Small and their dad Clifford Small. Also left to mourn are his two loving sisters Elsie Payne and Leah Knott; brother in laws, Derek (Jocelyn) Biggin, Bruce (Leah) Biggin, and Scott (Patricia) Biggin; and sister in laws: Madeline ( Randell) White, Karen (Dennis) Hughes; and Bertha, Gwen and Rachel Payne. There are also a large number of nephews, nieces, and circle of relatives and friends who are grieving Bryant's passing. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Dr. Ismail and the nurses at the emergency and ICU departments for their care, devotion and perseverance during this difficult time. Bryant will be resting at Fillatre's Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark's Avenue 7-9 on Thursday, June 20; and at the St. David of Wales Anglican Church Pasadena from 2-4 and 7-9 on Friday, June 21.
