It is with great sadness that the family of the late Johanna “Josie” Hamlyn announce her passing at the Corner Brook Long Term Care on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at the age of 90 years. She will be sadly missed by her sons: Rudy (Lisa) Knight, Halifax, Barry (Sandra) Knight, Ontario, Ernie (Dolly) Knight, Alberta, Randy (Valerie) Hamlyn, Quebec, Blaine (Audrey) Hamlyn, Deon (Terriann), Corner Brook and Eric (Tom) Hamlyn, Vancouver; stepchildren: Juanita Payne (Trevor), Eugene (Jean) Hamlyn, Judy Sparkes (Derek), Corner Brook, Bernetta Jacobs (Albert), Botwood, Doris Rumbolt (Wade) and Ben Ploughman, Port au Choix; grandchildren: Jo-ann and Glenn Payne, Bill and Michelle Jacobs, Mark, Craig and Laura Lynn Hamlyn, Glen Newcombe, Blaire, Blaine and Jamie Rumbolt, Joan and Jason Sparkes, Charmaine Hamlyn, Taylor and Lydia Hamlyn, Alexandre and Sara Hamlyn, Stephanie and Nicole Knight, Kevin and Sandi Knight, Mark Knight and Dale Padmore; 22 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Ruby Whalen, Gladys Whalen, Pearl Parsons, Hazel Hamlyn and Carrie Ryan; brothers-in-law: Walter (Margaret) Hamlyn and Fred (Clemmie) Hamlyn; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husbands Howard Hamlyn, March 15, 2013 and Jack Knight, parents Eliza and John Whalen, brothers Eric, Gideon and Clyde Whalen. The funeral service will be held Sunday, May 12 at 2:00 p.m. from Oakland United Church, Forrestside Street with her son Eric officiating followed by interment at Mount Patricia Cemetery. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Marks Avenue on Friday 7-9:00 p.m. and Saturday 2-4 and 7-9:00 p.m. As expressions of sympathy, no flowers by request donations may be made to the Parkinson’s Society or to a charity of one’s choice.
