Michael Joseph Sweeney Corner Brook, NL March 20, 1940 - March 20, 2013 It is with great sadness that the family of the late Michael Sweeney announce his passing on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at the Palliative Care Unit at Western Memorial Regional Hospital at the age of 73 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories is his wife, Marion (nee O’Quinn) of 48 years; children: Michael (Helen), Alicia (Andy) Whelan and Robin-Lynn Sweeney (Blair); grandchildren: Robin, Andrew and Bethany Whelan, Brittany Sweeney (Chad), Brandon and Taylor Sweeney; step-granddaughter: Terri-Lyn Coade (William); great grandchildren: Kenzie and Marcus Evoy; step-great grandchildren: Kaitlyn and James Coade; brother: Melvin Sweeney; sister: Agnes Sweeney; brothers-in-law: Ronald O’Quinn (Magdalene), Vince O’Quinn (Dale), Alex O’Quinn (Rose), Wallace O’Quinn (Evelyn), Frank O’Quinn (Jeanette), Brian O’Quinn (Jeannie), Terry O’Quinn (Cathy) and Greg O’Quinn (Helena); sisters-in-law: Kathleen Gale, Lucy McIsaac (Alan), Anita Reid (Wilfred), Theresa Ereaut (Robert) and Lori Gale (Terry); as well as a very large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Angela Sweeney and parents -in-law: George and Agnes O’Quinn. Visitation will take place from Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Marks Avenue on Thursday, 7-9:00 P.M. and on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, March 23rd at 10:30 A.M. from the Cathedral of the Most Holy Redeemer, Mt. Bernard Avenue followed by interment at Mt. Patricia Cemetery. Father Ambrose Hynes officiating. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted or donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit at Western Memorial Hospital.
