It is with great sadness that the family of the late Effie Dennis (nee Batt) announce her passing on Saturday, July 30th, 2005 at the J.I.O'Connell Centre at the age of 93. Effie was a long standing and devoted member of the Anglcian Church Women, St. Ambrose Church. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, sons: George Wheeler (Kay), Benoits Cove, and Jack Wheeler (Marg), Tumbleridge, BC; daughter: Diane Ross (Gord), Norwood, ON; brothers: Raymond Batt, Australia, and James Batt (Betty), NS; sons-in-law: Gord Gillis, NS and Archie Brake, ON; special friend: Marie Matthews, Corner Brook; 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, brothers and sisters-in-law, step-children, step-grandchildren and great grandchildren, a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Predeceased by first husband Sidney Wheeler, second husband Leslie Dennis, daughters: Mame Gillis and Millie Brake, parents: Mary Catherine and George Batt, and brothers: Russell, Alfred, Roland, Llewellyn and Samuel. Friends may visit Fillatre's Funeral Home, 218 Curling street on Monday, 2-4 and 7-9:00 p.m.. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 2nd, at 2:00 p.m. from St. Ambrose Church, John's Beach. Interment to follow at the church cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Ambrose Church Memorial Fund.
