Passed peacefully away at Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Violet Geraldine May Leonard with her four children by her side in her 69th year on Friday, December 14, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. Left to mourn are her four children: Janet Pardy (David), Lisa Reid (Ken), John Brake (Linda) and Cindy Targett (Rod); her 8 precious grandchildren: Adam (Macilla), Gregory (Mallory), Samantha (Brandon), Alyssia (Alex), Jessica (Wayne), Stephen (Annesa), Brayden and Courtney; brothers: Winston Wheeler (Emily), Dave Wheeler (Velma) and Hubert Wheeler (Beverly); sisters: Alice Mercer, Gloria Pynn, Greta Snook and Louise Squires; sisters-in-law: Sharon Wheeler, Iris Wheeler and Margaret Taylor; brother-in-law James Brake (Phyllis); special friend Pat Leonard and his family; as well as a large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents John and Winnifred Wheeler, brothers Jack Wheeler and Bill Wheeler, sisters Shirley Wheeler and twin sister Gladys Wheeler, brothers-in-law Frank Mercer, Herb Pynn, Roy Snook, Gideon Squires and Kevin Taylor, nieces Trina Wheeler and Norma Brake, father of her children John Brake, parents-in-law Mae and Foster Brake and her second husband John Leonard. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue on Sunday and Monday from the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 18 at 2:00 p.m. from the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, Main Street with The Very Rev. Baxter Park officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy flowers graciously accepted or donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
