Passed peacefully away on Tuesday, June 28th, 2005 at the O'Connell Centre D.V.A.Pavillion, BENEDICT McCARTHY at the age of 84 years, surrounded by his loving family. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his 8 children: Lloyd (Peggy), David (Lisa), Cassie (Kevin), Kevin (Marlene), Judy (Aaron), Marie (Ron), Veronica, Larry (Denese); grandchildren: Lloyd, Sam, Lloyd Wheeler, Donna, Lori Ann, Shelley, Eric, Kim, Corey, Beverley, Sonya, Dean, Robert, Michael, Avellina and Lawrence; 24 great grandchildren; brother Robert (Mary), sisters: Catherine Deluney (Cecil), Veronica (Vera) Hickey and a large number of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his loving wife Jessie May 6, 2004, son Raymond September 21, 2000, parents John & Veronica McCarthy, brothers: Frank, Anthony, Michael, Ignatius; sisters: Elizabeth Tucker and Eileen. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, July 2nd at 10:30 a.m.from Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, Benoits Cove, Father Bernard Buckle officiating, followed by the interment at the church cemetery. Friends may visit Fillatre's Funeral Home 218 Curling Street Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. As expressions of sympathy flowers are graciously accepted or memorial donations may be made to a charity of ones choice.
