Charles Roy MacDonald Port Aux Basques, NL It is with great sadness that the family of the late Charles Roy MacDonald announce his peaceful passing surrounded by his loving family on Monday, August 20th, 2012 at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre at the age of 94 years. Born at Grand Bruit on January 20, 1918, Roy was the son of the late Charles and Martha MacDonald. Roy was a fisherman and an employee of CN Marine. He was predeceased by four brothers: Clyde, Sidney, John Martin and Gerald and brothers & sisters-in-law. Left with many fond and precious memories of a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather are: Roy’s wife of 70 years, Clara; his children: Juanita (James) Kynoch, Port Rowan, ON, Marilyn (Percy) Savoury, Port Aux Basques, Terry (Margie) MacDonald, St. Andrews; grandchildren: Glen (Shelly) Savory, Sheri Ogden, Lisa (Steve) Allen, Roy (Heather) MacDonald, Christopher MacDonald; great-grandchildren: Emily, Marissa, Tori and Kaleigh, and one sister Joyce (Russell) MacDonald, Truro, NS, as well as brothers & sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews and friends. Special thanks to his caregivers Marlene Kendall and Jennifer Osmond and many thanks to the staff at the LeGrow Health Centre for their care and kindness during his stay at the hospital. Friends may visit Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port Aux Basques on Wednesday, August 22nd between the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, August 23rd at 2:00 p.m. from St. James Anglican Church with Rev. Hannah Dicks officiating. Interment following at St. James Cemetery, Barachois Hill. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted or donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
