Jane Hannah Butt (Shears)
Robinson’s, NL
September 26, 1925 - November 6, 2024
Jane Hannah Butt (Shears) of Robinsons, passed peacefully on November 6, 2024, at the Bay St. George Long Term Care Centre in Stephenville Crossing, NL, aged 99 years.
Predeceased by her husband Norris, parents Arthur Job Shears and Georgina Renouf, brothers Albert, James, Fred and Boyd, and sister, Gertrude.
Jane was born and raised in Robinsons, and it was there that she built a life well lived with her true love, Norris. They were married on November 15, 1945, and from that day on she filled her days making a loving home for their family - cooking, gardening, and always ensuring everyone was taken care of.
Left to celebrate her life are her children, Gailya (Leo Harvey), Sandra (Russell Legge), Arthur (Jodie Burke), Dan (Lori Philips), and Chris (Diane Barry), as well as sisters Mae, Evelyn, Viola, Rose, Greta and Judy, and brothers Howard and Arthur. Her memory will also live on in the hearts of her 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, of whom she was tremendously proud and loved with all her heart.
Jane loved the challenge of a good puzzle, crosswords, and new patterns for her true passion, knitting. And while there was no place like home for Jane, she equally loved the many adventures that she and Norris enjoyed while travelling across Canada over the years to visit family and dear friends, near and far.
In her 99 years, Jane held many titles - daughter, sister, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend to many. She will forever be remembered for the kindness and love she showed to all, and will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service to celebrate Jane’s life will be held at a later date.
Donations to the United Church in Heatherton are gratefully accepted in her memory.
