Lionel Freeman Pinksen
May 27, 1938 – November 4, 2024
Seal Cove, NL
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lionel Freeman Pinksen at the age of 86 on November 4, 2024. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Born with a strong sense of duty and kindness, he was a man of many talents—teacher, police officer, welder, fisherman—yet it was his roles as a father, husband, and friend that defined his life.
From his stage, from his boat The Wanda Marie, to the woods, he was always sharing his knowledge and love for the outdoors. Whether hosting a fishing trip, setting rabbit snares, moose hunting, or simply enjoying a boat ride with family and friends, his warmth and generosity brought joy to those around him. He always made time for others, never too busy for a chat, a laugh, or to pass on wisdom from his years of experience.
He is predeceased by his parents, Annie and Charlie Pinksen, and his mother-in-law Margaret Pike.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Doris, who stood by his side through every chapter of their lives together. His children, Kathy (Tim), Peggy (Rocky), and Stephen, will forever cherish the lessons and love he imparted. He was a proud brother to Effie (Jose) (deceased), Wallace (Linda), Mildred (Gerald), and Ford (Viola) and an adored grandfather to Joshua, Kimberly, Katelyn, Jenna, Kevin, Kristopher, Matilda, Sadie, and Jeffrey.
He will be remembered not only for what he did but for the person he was—someone who welcomed everyone with open arms and a big heart, who found joy in sharing the simple pleasures of life, and whose legacy of love and generosity will continue to shine in the lives of those who knew him.
Rest in peace, Lionel Freeman Pinksen. We were lucky to have had you in our lives.
