Limbert Francis Young

St. George's, NL

June 27, 1948 - October 29, 2024

It is with great sadness and broken hearts that the family of the Late Limbert Young announce his passing at Western Memorial Palliative Care Unit in Corner Brook on October 29, 2024, at the age of 76 years.

Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife Marion, daughters Anne Young and Beverly Young; son Logan Young (Stacey); stepson David Gillam (Suzanne), stepdaughter Falon Gillam (Shane): granddaughters Sasha Young, Shiane Hinks, Rea Wilton; grandsons Cody Young, Riley Robarts, James Hinks, Mason Gillam and Robbie Wilton; great-grandson: Grayson Gulliver; brothers Eugene Young, Phonse Young and Walter Young; sisters Ann Schultz, Mary Baird and Rose Evans (Bill). He is also survived by many in-laws, dear friends, nieces, nephews and Joey his sweet, 4-year-old Duck Toller who is now missing one of his favorite humans.

Limbert was predeceased by his parents Emma and Walter Young; brothers Ronald, Leo, Karl; sister Stella Whalen and Margaret, the mother of his daughters; Father-In-law Agustus and Mother-In-law Margaret Colbourne.

He was an avid outdoorsman with a passion for fishing and hunting. He spent many happy times over the years with all his buddies gathering at their Hideaway in at “Rang a Tang Pond”. In the later years, he was still heading to cabin whenever he could with Marion in tow waiting for family and friends to join them for a time.  “I’d rather be in the woods than anywhere else” he’d often say.

He was most happy when his hands were soiled, especially when he was out mending the fishing gear, anticipating the next season. He spent his days hanging out in his garage working on his various projects. He was always happy have someone stop by for a visit and show them what he was up to that day.

He had a heart of gold and would always be right there to help when anyone needed his assistance. He was an incredibly hard-working man and always had a plan in the making. He made sure this same work ethic and spirit were instilled in his children. His concern was always about the ability of his children and grandchildren to succeed in life.  “ Work hard and you will be able to take care of yourself” he often said.

Limbert was definitely the trunk of the family tree. The strength and wisdom that he has left behind will now help guide all his branches so that they stand strong and able to withstand the storms of life.

We can all find solace in knowing that he will be reunited with the many family members and friends who have passed on before him. There will be an extra joyous reunion with this beloved dog Tramp we expect.

Honouring Limbert’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be on Friday, November 1st, 2024 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. @ Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Stephenville Crossing.
