It is with great sadness that the family of the late Martin Matthew Bolger announce his peaceful passing on Thursday, October 17th, 2024, at the Labrador West Health Centre in Labrador City at the age of 89 years.

Left to mourn with fond memories daughters Justine (George); Catherine (Wayne); Daughter-in-Law, Kim; grandchildren Samantha, Denika, Murray, Kianna, Emma & Carlos; sisters Elizabeth, Lottie, Brigett and Olive and close relatives and friends.

Predeceased by his wife Veronica and son’s Camille & Richard. Parents: David & Lucy Bolger; sisters Josephine, Margaret & Gert.

Martin was a humble soul and enjoyed the simple things in life. He had a passion for berry picking and was often known as the “town expert” when it was time to shingle a house as he knew the amount of tar to use every time. In his quiet time, he enjoyed listening to music and having a cup of Tetley tea with a biscuit. He was a man of great faith and loved every occasion when family and friends would gather at his house for song and a little scuff.

There will be a visitation held at Our Lady of Labrador Church in West St. Modeste, on Sunday 2 -4 p.m. with a family service at 7 p.m. The funeral service with be Monday, October 21st, 2024 at 2 p.m. with Father Alphonsus officiating. Interment to follow at the Roman Catholic Cemetery in Pinware.

The family wishes to extend gratitude to the staff at the Long-Term Care in Labrador City, St. Anthony & Forteau for the wonderful care and love that was paramount during his short stay. Thank you to Temple’s Funeral Home in Labrador City and Fillatre’s Funeral Home in Lanse au Loup for the professionalism and compassion shown. A special thank you to Doris Fowler for all the hours spent with Dad in putting together puzzles and visiting him often. To Zita Pike, Terry & Rosina Casey, Agnes Pike, Rhoda O’Brien Locke, Murray & Nicole Jones, Dominic Jones, Mr. & Mrs. Careen for all the assistance during this difficult time. God bless you all.

“Keep the joy of loving God in your heart today and share this joy with all you meet, especially your family.” Mother Teresa
