Obituary of Martha Ann Newland

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Martha Ann Newland announce her passing on October 4th, 2024, at the Long-Term Care Home in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, NL at the age of 96.
Martha was born in Salt Lick, Kentucky on May 17th, 1928, and became a Canadian citizen on May 4th, 1995. She worked as a registered nurse in Virginia, Florida, Northwest Territories, British Columbia, Toronto, and Hamilton, and carried on her career by teaching nursing students. Martha found joy in many things, including: painting, photography, traveling, and her cats.
Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are nephews: Larry (Cindy) Roberts, James (Margaret) Newland Jr., Paul Newland, Joseph Lee Newland, & Gerald Henry Roberts; dear friends: Dawn & John Lancaster; and foster sisters: Clara Elliot & Sylvia Schlemmer and their families; As well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Martha was predeceased by her parents: Margaret Pelfrey Newland & Joseph Newland; twin sister: Mary McDaniel; sisters: Jean & Blanch Newland; brothers: James, Joseph, & Charles Newland; and foster brother: Harvey Elliot.
Cremation has taken place, and Martha will be going back to Virginia to her final resting place. No formal service will be held at this time.
