Jessie Priscilla Wight (née Langdon)
November 25, 1935 - October 3, 2024
Pasadena, NL

It is with heavy hearts that the family of the late Jessie Wight announce her passing at the Corner Brook Long Term Care Facility at the age of 88 years. For the past two years, Jessie bravely battled dementia, showing remarkable courage and strength during this most difficult time.

Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her devoted husband of 70 years, Gerald; children Gerald Jr., Joy (Ken) Seaward, Mary Lou (Phil) Clarke, Wade (Laurie), and Rob (Wanda); grandchildren Trina (Stephen), Andrea (Sandy),  Danny (Melanie), Jeffrey (Melissa), Amanda (Joey), Sheldon, Corey (Jennifer), Jessica (Gordie), and Robin (Josh); and great-grandchildren Joey, Emily, Melody, Hannah, Isaac, Ethan, Ava, Merick, Evelyn, Archer, Brielle, Blake and Charlie. She is also survived by her brother Ivan Langdon and sisters-in-law Maxine (David) Carter, Francine Wight, Myra (Jim) Floros, Linda Wight, Lena Wight, Bonnie Raymond, Betty Wight, Sandra Wight, Elizabeth Wight and Vivian Andrews; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Jessie was predeceased by her parents, Kate and Ralph Langdon; her brothers Ray, Jim, and Guy Langdon; her sister Hattie (Tiff) Wight; her sister-in-law Dinah Langdon; and her brothers-in-law Claude Wight, Victor Wight, Robert (Bob) Wight, Junior Wight, Don Wight, Wayne Wight, and Jimmy Raymond.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker, Jessie had a passion for the outdoors. She loved cabin life, fishing, berry picking, and gardening. She was well-known for her dedication to her community through extensive volunteer work. Jessie served on many committees, including Pasadena Firettes, Christmas Hamper Committee, Bible Study, School Breakfast Program, Salvation Army Kettle Campaign, and the Tree of Memories. She also canvased for many great causes, including the Western Memorial Hospital Foundation and she volunteered for numerous years at the local Thrift Store.  To reflect on her strong commitment to volunteerism, Jessie and Gerald were honored as Winter Carnival Patrons many years ago.

Lastly, Jessie was a person of deep faith and served as a soldier of the Salvation Army Church. As difficult as it is to say goodbye, we take comfort in knowing Jessie has long looked forward to reuniting with her loved ones and meeting her Savior. So, rather than saying goodbye, we will simply say, "see you later" until we meet again.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Bungalows and Corner Brook Long Term Care Facility for their support and compassion over the past 27 months. The exceptional care she was provided will forever be appreciated.

Visitation for family and friends will take place on Sunday, October 6, from the hours of 2-4 and 7-9pm at Pasadena Pentecostal Church, 3 Fourth Avenue in Pasadena. The funeral service will be held on Monday, October 7 at 11:00am at Pasadena Pentecostal Church with Major Frank Pittman officiating. Interment will follow at the Salvation Army Cemetery, North Harbour Road in Pasadena. A reception will be held following the funeral service at the Royal Canadian Legion, 90 Main Street, Pasadena. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Western Memorial Hospital Foundation.
