Obituary of Rita Gardner

January 1, 1934 - October 2, 2024

It is with great sadness the family of the late Rita Gardner announce her sudden passing at the Rufus Guinchard Health Care Centre, Port Saunders, NL on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at the age of 90.

She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her companion of 22 years Cyril Sheppard, her devoted children:  Sharon (David), Elaine (Byron), Warren and Darlene (Scott); grandchildren:  Shannon (Linda), Tanya (Shawn), Jeffrey (Katelyn), Danielle (John) and Johanne (Sheldon); great-grandchildren:  Johnathon, Shalyn, Spencer, Maria, Marshall, Keira, Phoenix, Landen,  Max;  and brother Lawrence House.

Predeceased by:  Parents Asher and Muriel House; husband Reginald Patey; son Roger; sibings:  Ida (Howard), Bud (Audrey), Edna (John), Winston (Eileen) and Harley (Sarah).

Rita was a quiet lady who enjoyed life.  She devoted her time to family which included routine phone calls to grandchildren and lunch dates.  She was known for her resilience and her gentle nature.

Rita  will always be loved, never forgotten and forever missed.  

Visitation will be held at  the Holy Innocents Anglican Church, Hawke's Bay, NL.

Saturday, October 5, 2024 from 2pm-4pm, 7pm - 9pm.

Funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 6, 2024 @ 11am with The Reverend Marie Smith officiating.  Interment to follow at Sandy Cove Interfaith Cemetery, Port Saunders, NL.
