In Loving Memory of Sidney Alexander Butt
September 5, 1935 – September 22, 2024
It is with great sadness that the family of Sidney Alexander Butt announces his passing at Western Memorial Regional Hospital on Sunday September 22, 2024, at the age of 89, after a short battle with Cancer.
Sidney was born in Curzon Village, NL. He was the only son to Sidney & Edith Butt. Sid was working with Golden Eagle which became Ultramar when he moved to Corner Brook. He retired after 30 years of service; many will remember him from the River where he worked with his son after his retirement.
Sid loved to watch sports especially his Toronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto Blue Jays.
Sidney leaves to mourn his beloved wife of 62 years, Shirley (née Sheppard). He is survived by his son Todd (Lisa), grandson Todd (Jane), and his cherished grand puppy and companion, Cee Cee. He also leaves behind his sister Leona, as well as sisters-in-law Isabelle (Lloyd) and Liz (Real). Sidney is predeceased by his parents, Sidney and Edith Butt, his Uncle Jack Halfyard, who was like a father to him, and brothers-in-law Andy Chatwood and Max Sheppard.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and doctors on the 4D unit and in the ICU at Western Memorial Hospital for their compassionate care during this difficult time. A special thank you goes to Dr. Mackenzie for his exceptional support and dedication. Your kindness made a meaningful difference in Sidney’s final days.
In accordance with Sid's wishes, cremation has taken place, and there will be no visitation or funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, anyone wishing to make a donation in Sidney’s name may do so to the Canadian Cancer Society, the NL West SPCA, or a charity of their choice. Your kindness is appreciated.
