Obituary of Aloysius Emedee Caines

Emedee Caines

August 18, 1947 - September 8, 2024

It is with great sadness that we, the family of Emedee Caines of Port Saunders, announce his sudden passing on September 8, 2024, at the age of 77.

Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, his devoted wife of 51 years Gertrude Caines nee Lowe; brothers Aime (Margaret) Caines, Stewart (Janet) Caines, Edgar Caines, Dennis (Carolann) Caines; sister Augustine (Primus) Caines.  Also mourning his death are the Lowe family and his many nieces and nephews; especially his nephew Joseph and niece Lauren, whom he thought of as his own children.  Emedee had many friends who will miss him dearly.

Emedee was predeceased by his parents Mabel and Stanley Caines; brother Skip Caines; nephew Jeremy Caines; mother and father in law Madeline and Martin Lowe.

Emedee was well known for his love of music and was a self taught musician who played the fiddle, accordion, guitar and banjo.  He loved getting together with his musician friends and playing 'tunes' on many Saturday nights and wherever they were, they were sure to draw a crowd.

He was well known on the Northern Peninsula, as for 51 years he made deliveries up and down the coast day and night.  He made many friendships and told many stories.  He will be missed.

Visitation will take place at Fillatre's Funeral Home in Port au Choix, NL

Tuesday, September 10, 2024 from 7pm - 9pm

Wednesday, September 11, 2024 from 2pm -  4pm  /  7pm - 9pm

Funeral Service will be held  at the St.  John Divine Church in Port Saunders, NL on Thursday, September 12, 2024 @ 11am with Father Rossi officiating.

Interment to follow at the Sandy Cove Interfaith Cemetery, Port Saunders, NL
