Cedric (Ced) James Caines

September 11, 1968 - September 7, 2024

Ced passed away peacefully at the Rufus Guinchard Health Centre in Port Saunders surrounded by his loved ones.

He was loving father, spouse, husband, son, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and coworker.

Leaving to mourn his loving spouse Gloria, son Christopher (daughter in law Katelyn and expected grandchild), stepson Matthew (Victoria and grandchildren Everleigh and Phoenix), mother Mary, siblings Valda (George), Ben (Michelle), Adoralyn (Derm).  Nieces Rowan, Sarah and Emma and great-niece Paisley.  Sisters in law Tina (Dennis) and Maureen (Derek).  Mother in law Phyllis Tucker (Kimberley),  his "work wife"  Evelyn and all his coworkers, large circle of family and friends.

Predeceased by his beloved wife Kimberley, son Alex, father Donald Caines, grandparents Evangeline and Clifford Burt, Gertrude and Lawrence Caines, father in law Thomas Tucker (Kimberley) and many other family and special pets.

Ced grew up in Port au Choix with his three siblings and a multitude of cousins who were just like siblings in many ways and many friends.

He spent most of his time outside playing ball or camping in the summer or any other thing we could imagine in a time before technology captured our time and attention.  He had many adventures and a childhood that was blessed with love and happiness.

Ced worked at various jobs throughout his life before he found his true calling of helping people in his role as a paramedic for over 20 years.  He was there in some people's worst moments of life and treated them all with care and respect and was always proud to serve his community and was greatly respected  by the ones he served and worked with.

One of Ced's greatest joys was his children who he welcomed into his life with his wife Kimberley.  Alex who he had to love for such a short time and Christopher who he thoroughly enjoyed his time with, sharing many adventures, whether it was fishing, hunting, cutting wood together or eating a mangled partridgeberry pie that didn't quite survive the skidoo ride to the cabin.

It took 4 attempts through snow storms and sheer determination to meet his "rock" Gloria who he enjoyed many of his days with in the cabin having a snuggle on the couch with a cold glass of Kahlua and milk watching the roaring fire and a good movie.

Ced really enjoyed Gloria's baking as many people who knew him are aware and how many times he'd say "Any chance on getting a sample" to take to work as he left for his shift to enjoy with his coworkers.

He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life like cutting wood and teaching Gloria how to use the chainsaw or the sawmill "accident free" which was a feat in itself.  Along with a good ride in the side by side or on the skidoo together and with family and friends.

He was always there to help his mother especially clearing the snow when he got to play with his tractor which was one of his favorite toys.  Always there to make sure she was in good supply of the wood he cut or there to run from place to place to ensure she was never in need.

May your rest be peaceful and on your cosmic road  trip, we hope you've made a pit stop on Mars, grabbed some space snacks and seen all the stellar lights.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Rufus Guinchard Health Centre, Western Memorial Regional Hospital and the Health Science Centre for everything they have done for the family and the great care they provided to Ced.

At his request cremation has taken place.
