Kimberley Ann Payne Moores
March 31, 1969 – July 31, 2024

Deer Lake, NL

It is with profound sadness that the family of the late Kimberley Ann Payne Moores announce her passing at the Palliative Care Unit in Corner Brook, NL on July 31st, 2024, at the age of 55 years old.

Kimberley leaves to mourn her husband, Wesley Moores; loving parents Mary and Eugene Payne; sister Lana (Ed) Payne; brother Montgomery (Susan) Payne, nieces Kate, Morgan, and Brooklyn; aunts and uncles Melvin and Rhonda, Newman and Doris, Eileen, Olive, Pat and Charmaine, and Tom; many cousins; mother-in-law Mabel; the Moores family; and special friends including long-time dear friend Keith Lamkin.

She was pre-deceased by beloved brother Parry (1990); by her Payne and Moore grandparents; and by her dear father-in-law Alvin Moores.

Kim loved to laugh. It was infectious.

It didn’t take much to put a smile on her face - a visit or phone call, photos of her nieces, were simply enough. Oh and anything and everything the colour purple.

In her book there was only one colour. It was purple. Purple unicorns. Purple stars. Purple blankets and Purple Pjs.

As Kim’s family we wish to remember her not by the health issues she battled most of her life - largely stemming from diabetes and the devastation this disease wields - but by her incredible fight, her generosity, her love for her family, her kind heart that could be bruised so easily and by her extraordinary determination.

Our heart weeps for that which we loved the most. Our special and most heartfelt thanks to the literally hundreds of health care workers who cared for Kim over the years, including the very special people at the Western Regional Hospital dialysis unit. We are reminded of just how important universal public health care is for Canadians. Kim would have had no chance to fight and live a good life without it. It is the foundation of a better country and world and no one knows that more than her family. Let’s all keep fighting for it.
