Mildred Butler (nee Price)

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother at the age of 96 years at The Palliative Care Unit in Corner Brook on Sunday, July 28, 2024.  Mildred was, as her family would say, “addicted to” playing scrabble—she loved a game! In addition to Scrabble, she had so many interests: knitting, sewing,  all types of crafts, and cross country skiiing well into  her early eighties.  She was a devoted member of the Corner Brook Lioness Club and maintained her friendship with fellow Lionesses, who continue to lunch to this day.  As a 62-year survivor of breast cancer, Mildred was a very active volunteer with the local Cancer Society.  Anyone who drove by  West Valley Rd knew gardening was also a passion.  Mildred and Harold spent many years camping at Birchy Lake with  many campfires—weiner roasts and fishing were a big part of the day, with grand children loving every minute.

Mildred will be sadly missed by: daughter Dianne (Ken) and her children Robin (Rob),  their children Lola and Rocco, and Adam (Vicky) and Dianne’s granddaughter Zoe; son Gary (Judy) and their children Heather, Lauren (Lee), their children Kimberly and Scott, son Bradley ( Alannah) and their daughters Evie and Harley Rose; son Derrick (Elizabeth) and their children  Mark (Grace) and Greg (Debbie); Daughter Cheryl (Carolyn); and daughter Wendy (Brent) and their son Nicholas.

Predeceased by her husband Harold, parents Minnie and Simeon Price, brothers Raymond, Clarence, Bill, Stan, Lester, and sisters Blanch and Annie.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 31, from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm and on Wednesday 10-12 pm.   A Memorial service will be held at Fillatre’s Funeral Home at 2 pm on Wednesday, July 31, 2024.

Mildred’s family would like to say a very sincere thank you to Donna Noel, who became a very dear friend over the past year and Pam Kendall for her kindness. Also a special thank you to the staff at Westmount Estates for the tremendous care provided and the staff at the Palliative Care Unit for their compassion and kindness.

As expressions of sympathy, flowers will be graciously accepted and/or donations to the Corner Brook Food Bank.

“A mother’s love is always with her children. Losing a mother is one of the deepest sorrows a heart can know.  But her goodness, her caring, and her wisdom live on -like a legacy of love that will always be with you.”
