It is with great sadness that the family of the late Gary “Stig” Bird announce his passing on Wednesday, July 17th, 2024, in Cartwright, NL, at the age of 75 years.
Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife Patty Way; step-children, Jocelyne (Martin) Hookins, and Jodean (Peter) Jefford; grandchildren, Lucas, Katelyn and Brooklyn Jefford; brother, George (Vi) Bird; sister, Carol (Cally) Bird; nephews, Ed (Warlyn) Pardy, Shaun (Karen) Turner, James (Kelly) Way and Robert (Caitlin) Way; nieces, Lorna (Kevin) Knee, Leighann (Richard) Whittington, Annalisa (Guy) Dufour, Allison (Mark) Urquhart, and Jessica Slany; brothers-in-law, George (Brenda) Way and Sam Pardy; sisters-in-law, Gail Turner, Jennifer (Josef) Slany, and Debbie Way; As well as a large circle of great-nieces and nephews, including his namesake, great-nephew Gary (Emily) Pardy; and special great-nephew, Jake, who was with him on his last trip; cousins, and many friends, including Cameron Martin and Darryl Burdett.
He was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Ruth Bird; sister, Marion Pardy; brother-in-law, Gary Way; mother-in-law, Muriel Way; niece, Rebecca Slany; and great-niece, Reya Way.
A memorial service will be held at St. Peter's Anglican Church, Cartwright, NL on Saturday, September 14th, 2024 at 2pm with Reverend Gail officiating.
