It is with great sadness that the family of the late Stephen John Carey announce his sudden passing on Thursday, May 30th, 2024 at the age of 67. He will be profoundly and sadly missed by his loved ones; partner Lisa Blanchard; mother Myrtle Carey; sons Grant (Jedalyn), and Anthony (Colleen); brothers Tony (Esther), Josh (Brenda), Dwayne; sister Linda Parsons (Eric); grandchildren: Kimberly (Nick), Katherine, Matthew (Jenna), Kassidy and David; his partners parents Eric and Cecily Blanchard, daughter Marrissa Parsons, son Quentin Blanchard; a numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including the Emergency Medical Service community. He was predeceased by his son Stephen and his father Joshua.
Steve enjoyed the great outdoors hunting, fishing and all that nature had to offer. He particularly enjoyed those experience with his two sons, grandchildren and “hunting buddy”, Brian Elliott. Steve’s love for the great outdoors continued at his cabin where he enjoyed many excursions. A leisurely ride along the trails, a visit to his favorite fishing hole, hunting for partridge or chasing after a moose.
Steve spent over 30 years helping to build the provincial EMS system as a volunteer, Certified Paramedic and owner/operator of ambulance services. Health officials across the province knew they could rely on him to provide support and assistance wherever it was needed. He helped guide the careers of countless first responders and was always available day or night to help where he could. Steve’s contribution to promoting and advancing EMS in our province helped shape the modern system we enjoy today.
