MARY BURRY (July 14, 1927 – May 24, 2004)
Passed away peacefully at the Dartmouth General Hospital (DGH) in Dartmouth, NS, in her 96th year, Mary Burry, the best Mother in the world.
Mom was born on July 14, 1927 in Port Ann, a small island community in Placentia Bay, NL. Mom attended Memorial College in St. John’s NL and became a teacher undoubtedly touching the lives of many of her students during her teaching stint in late 1940’s and into the 1950’s. It was in the 1950’s while teaching in Greenspond, NL that Mom met my dad and love of her life, Sidney Burry, by whom she was pre deceased. They lived in Corner Brook, NL for approx 50 years. After Dad’s passing in 2004 Mom moved to Dartmouth, NS to be near her small but loving family.
Leaving to mourn, with incredible fond memories, her only son Ron and loved daughter in-law Ruby, her only Grandson Tyler and wife Samantha, Rocky Rapids, Alberta and two Great Grandsons (the apples of her eye), Jackson and Jett. Also leaving to mourn Mom’s brother, Henry Pardy (Lillian) Mt. Pearl, NL and incredible nephew Hiram Tiller (Halifax, NS) who tirelessly visited and had fun with Mom, above and beyond the call of duty while she lived in Nova Scotia. Mom also left behind many other nieces, nephews and friends who she loved including her long time friend Margret Hiller, Corner Brook NL. Mom was predeceased by her sister and brother in-law Rebecca and Jack Rodway, parents William and Mary Ann Pardy and her special niece Ruth Tiller (Hiram).
Mom’s remains will be returned to Corner Brook NL, with final resting place at Mount Patricia Cemetery next to her husband Sidney. Cremation has taken place. Mom liked things simple… no flowers, no ceremonies, no big deals but she liked to help people. That being said, donations in Mom’s memory can be made to the Humber United Church, Clarence Street, Corner Brook, NL (Humber United Church | Charity Profile | Donate Online | Canadahelps ) or to the Dartmouth General Hospital Foundation, Dartmouth, NS. (Ways to Give – Dartmouth General Hospital Foundation (dghfoundation.ca) ). Thanks to Mom’s Family doctor and to all the doctors and nurses at the DGH that helped mom… especially over the past 5-6 years. I met miracle workers at DGH.
Thanks Mom for being so easy to get along with, unselfish, loving, accommodating, and supportive… and for being the best Mother, Mother In-law, Grandmother and Great Grandmother we could have asked for. You will be missed so much. We love you.
