Obituary of Robert Dean White

Robert Dean White
October 31, 1934 – May 28, 2024

On May 28th, 2024, Robert (Bob) Dean White of Deer Lake passed peacefully away on the Palliative Care Unit in his sleep in his 90th year. Robert is survived by his children Cindy (Stephen), Brian (Brenda), Wade (Jeri-Lynn), and Tracy (Philip); grandchildren Krista, Justin, Amanda, Jillian, Shaun, Mitchell, Gabriel, and Matthew; as well as many nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and special friend Pearl Nichols. Robert is predeceased by his wife Effie (nee Antle); his parents Joyce and Herbert; brothers Byron, Gar, and Hollie; sisters Neatha, Monica, and Joan; and son Cordell.

Robert was born and raised in Howley and moved to Deer Lake where met the love of his life Effie and raised their family. He worked with Bowaters then Kruger for many years and continued to work after his retirement as a guard with the RCMP where he received a commendation. 

Robert was a lover of the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, ski-doing and riding his quad. For many years he enjoyed spending time with his family at his cabin in Howley. Robert was well known and liked in the community and was known for his kindness and generosity to others. He especially loved golf. He was a founding member of the Humber River Golf Course. He loved his family dearly and will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.

Thank you to the nurses of 3B medicine, his doctors and a very special thank you to the nurses and staff of the palliative care unit for the exceptional care they provided. As well thank you to the staff at the Deer Lake Manor for their care and kindness during his stay.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 10 Clinic Drive, Deer Lake from the hours of 7:00 – 9:00 pm. A Funeral Service will take place 1:00 pm on Friday, May 31, 2024, at Emmanuel Pentecostal Church, 45 Bennett Avenue with Pastor Jeffrey White officiating. An interment will follow at the Deer Lake Interdenominational Cemetery.
