Obituary of Cecil Edward Bright
Please share a memory of Cecil to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Husband, Father, Son, Brother, Uncle, & dear friend Eddie Bright. Eddie passed peacefully at home on the morning of May 17, 2024, in Happy Valley-Goose Bay surrounded by his loved ones.
Eddie leaves behind his wife Denise, sons Dylan (Madison) and Justin (Amy), father Cecil Bright, siblings Billy, Kimberly (Alan), Beverly (Perry), Brother-in-law Mike (Paula), nieces and nephews Melissa Johnson (Andrew), Tyler, Brock, Sammy, and Nicholas (Alex).
He was predeceased by his mother Maisie (Hoben) Bright, grandmother Sarah Jane Hoben, father-in-law & mother-in-law Samual & Margaret Gould.
Eddie was raised in Wabush, Labrador. Graduated school there, and while there worked with Forestry in the summers fighting fires. Then he went to college in St. John’s. He came to Goose Bay and first worked for Neil Blake at Blake’s Drafting, then at CBCL as a draftsman, and his latest position was as Coordinator for Contract Services for Defence Construction Canada. Eddie was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to hunt and fish. He and Denise would go off in camper when they could. His family always came first and his visits with his dad were important to him. He was always involved in sports. He was a big hockey and curling fan, and coached hockey when his boys were involved. Philly was his hockey team. He was caring and supportive to everyone he knew, especially to his family. He could be found in his shed either cleaning a moose, doing some woodwork, playing darts, or just sitting having a drink with a friend or 2. Eddie loved to laugh, he had that distinct laugh that we all loved. He certainly will be missed.
The family would like to send a big “Thank You” to the health care professionals, Dr. O’Brien & Dr. Rorke (oncologist). Also, his nurses Blanche Mahar and Angie Lawrence.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, May 24, 2024, at the Masonic Lodge from 2:00-4:00 pm, in Happy Valley-Goose Bay.
