It is with great sadness that the family of the late Robert (Bob) James Hicks announce his passing on Monday, May 13, 2024, at the Palliative Care Unit in Corner Brook at the age of 64 years. He will be missed by his partner Sue Rendell; Siblings: Cathy Stratton (Bern) and Allan Hicks (Lori); brother-in-law Jim Rendell (Jill); nieces and nephews: Jennifer Renouf (Michael), Diana Stratton, Andrew Stratton (Meggan Hookey-Sutton), Mya Hicks, Robert Hicks (Lindsay), Sara Mahar (Jeff) and Philip Rendell and their children.
Bob was predeceased by his parents Loretta and Allan Hicks, parents-in-law Julia and Leslie Rendell, and brother-in-law Blair Rendell.
For everyone who knew Bob, he loved the outdoors. He started out as an engineer but soon realized this path wasn’t for him and came back to Newfoundland to pursue a career in adventure travel. With his lifelong partner, Sue, they started Gros Morne Adventures. Over the years, Bob inspired many people, young and old, to kayak, hike, ski, bike, and appreciate the rugged beauty and wilderness that is Newfoundland and Labrador.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
