MAIRIN
WALSH
1922 - 2010
Mairin Walsh, daughter of May and William Norman, wife of Dr Neil Walsh and mother of Neil, Alison Graham, Peter and Margaret, died on her 88th birthday in Belmont Nursing Home in Toronto. Mairin and Neil came to Corner Brook in 1955 and were active members of the community for many years. Mairin moved to Toronto to be closer to her children after Neil died in 2001. Mairin will be remembered by the Corner Brook community for her wonderful acting and singing at many community events. Mairin was also a wonderful cook and for a short time had a cooking television program with the CBC. However to her family she was just “mom” who took care of everything. In her latter years, Mairin suffered from senile dementia but somehow retained the warmth that made her so special. She is survived by Neil, Alison, Graham and Margaret as well as 10 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She will not be forgotten. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 8th at 10:30 a.m. from the Cathedral of the Most Holy Redeemer, Mount Bernard Avenue with Monsignor Edwin Gale officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society or the Canadian Cancer Society. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue, Corner Brook. The family guest book may be signed or a memorial donation may be made through our website www.fillatre.ca.
