Amelia Jessie Young

Burgeo, NL
It is with broken hearts we announce that Amelia Jessie (Hardy) Young died on May 7th at the age of 73 years, surrounded by her loving family, after a short battle with cancer. She will be deeply missed by her loving husband Jim, of 54 years; children: sons, Paul (Paula); Jamie (Grace) of Burgeo, and daughter Kelly Dawn (Glenn) of Sydney, Nova Scotia; granddaughter Keanna and her pride and joy, grandson Dalton (Beth); many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She is also survived by her brothers: Austin (Judy) and Melvin (Sheila); sisters Daphne (Gerry) and Donna (Gary); brother-in-law George and sisters-in-law Susie (Wayne), Marie (Percy), Louise, and Annie Hardy. She was predeceased by her parents Edwin and Theresa (Munden) Hardy; parents-in-law Ephraim and Lucy Young; brothers Junior (Jean), Wilfred (Sandra); Jim (Lorraine); and her dear sister Eva (Don); brother- in-law Frank, and sister-in-law Gertie Young.
Amelia was born in Rose Blanche on March 20, 1951. Her first job was at Hardy’s fish processing plant. She moved to Burgeo in her late teens and worked at the Coastal Food Center. After having her children, she worked seasonally at the Burgeo Fish Plant and in later years a lobster plant in Shediac, New Brunswick. She enjoyed time in Wooden Tilt Brook, Top Pond, and later Peter Strides. Time spent with family and friends was very precious to her, in particular, her visits to Cape Breton with her daughter Kelly Dawn & Glenn, Special friends Garry & Pauline and special nieces Theresa and Andrea. She enjoyed a good laugh, especially with her long-time friend Doris.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Calder Health Care Center (CHCC) and Western Memorial Regional Hospital, as well as, the ambulance attendees, for taking such wonderful care of her during her illness.
Under the direction of Fillatre’s Funeral Home, cremation has taken place. In keeping with her wishes there will be no service.
