Shirley Muise
July 22, 1959- April 28,2024
It is with a deep appreciation for the cycles of life that the Muise family announces the passing of Shirley Ann Muise (64) on April 28, 2024. Shirley began her journey back to the spirit world through Mi’kmaq ceremony, surrounded by family, friends, and caring nursing staff at the Bay St. George Long Term Care Home in Stephenville Crossing. Shirley was born to parents Gertrude and Victor Muise (deceased) on July 22, 1959, in St. George’s, NL.
After high school Shirley moved to Stephenville and worked in childcare and industrial cleaning while regularly volunteering in community at fundraising events for school children and their sports. She loved young people and was strict with them about getting an education and having respectful behavior. She loved going on excursions with siblings, having tea with friends, making hooked rug crafts, dressing up funny and playing the fool just for fun. She was thrilled when new babies were born into the family and remembered everyone’s dates of birth. This came in handy when remembering birthdays throughout the year. Shirley cherished her Mi’kmaq culture and teachings, drumming, singing, and attending traditional circles and ceremonies. Her daughter Sabrina was the joy of her life.
She is predeceased by siblings Walter Muise, Bernard Muise, Gladys Kendall (Michael), Raymond Perrier and Patrick Muise (Brenda Young deceased), her grandparents and many aunties, uncles, and cousins. She is survived by her only daughter, Sabrina Muise and siblings, Doreen Swyers (Arther deceased), Odelle Pike (George), Cecelia Butt (partner Roger Messervey), Lenard Muise (Beth), Victor Muise Jr., Kathleen Muise, Terrance Muise, Eileen Lucas (Gregory deceased), twin sister Sharon Muise, Marjorie Muise (partner Darren Gosse), Ronald Muise (Wanda), Angela Muise, Audrey Lucas (partner James Sharpe) and Gertie Mai Muise (partner James Butler), and the only Auntie remaining Sarah Muise. She is deeply missed by us and her many nieces and nephews.
