Corner Brook, NL

April 22, 1971 – February 20, 2024

It is with great sadness and broken hearts, that the family of the late Jennifer (Renee) Oates announce her passing on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at the Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary, Alberta at the age of only 52, with her son and his girlfriend by her side.

She leaves to mourn with the most precious memories her only son Nicholas Oates (Jasmine); mother Shirley Collins; Nicholas’ father Ken Oates; aunts and uncles: Princealene Bartlett (Brian), Randy Baker (Barb) and Regina Johnson; cousins: Cory Bartlett, Adrian Bartlett and second cousin and best friend Sandy Stevens; childhood friends: Mary-Louise Noel, Tina Tiller and Tanya Langer, also close friend Lee Bennett; as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends.

A special thanks to the ICU staff at the Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary, along with family that came to visit Renee, cousin Cory Bartlett (Lisa Williams), Linda Day and Marlene Day.

Renee is predeceased by her loving grandmother Genevieve Baker, father Craig Collins, uncle Ernest Baker (Bub) and aunt Dollina Leggo.

Cremation has taken place. Family and friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue on Wednesday, March 27 from the hours of 12-2:00 p.m. with a time of Remembrance starting at 2:30 p.m. in Fillatre’s Funeral Chapel and the funeral service at 3:00 p.m. with The Rev. Very Catherine Short officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers graciously accepted or donations may be made to the MS Society or to the Diabetic Association.
