Easily the heart and hearth of our Newfoundland family, we always looked forward to 'going down home' and spending time at Aunt Glenda's and David's house. We would reminisce and laugh, play cards, dance and sing or just relax with whovever wanted to stop by for a chat. Aunt Glenda always had time to invite us in and offer a yummy crab sandwich wrapped in her delicious homemade bread or David's amazing mussels cooked out on the porch, Jigg's dinner in the shed, or whatever else she had in the fridge. "Help yourself!", she'd say. Often these visits would be followed by an evening of enjoying each other's company outside on the 'compound' playing music, games and sitting around the fire. Then, if you needed a place to crash, she'd welcome you in with open arms! She really knew how to make us all feel right at home and gave her love unconditionally. She is one of the strongest, hardest working women I've ever known and an amazing role model to her awesome children. You could easily tell how much she valued family. I was always so proud that she was my aunt and I'm so thankful that my girls and Dan got to know and love her as much as I do. We will miss aunt Glenda very much and will hold all our lovely memories of her dear to our hearts, always.
