Sept. 17, 1935 – Jan. 6, 2024

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Joyce Matchem (Gillam) announce her passing on January 6, 2024 at the Bay St. George Long Term Care Centre, Stephenville Crossing, NL at the age of 88 years.

Leaving to mourn is her son Eric and daughter-in-law Chrissy, son-in-law Wilson Major; grandchildren:  Terra (Stuart) Fehrman, Bradley (Laurie) Major, Crystal (Desmond) Major, Glen (Ashley) Matchem, Michael (Holly) Matchem; great-grandchildren:  Desirae, Madison, Avery, Addison, Jordyn, Morgan & Frank; brother: Michael (Doreen); sister: Doreen (Don); brother-in-law Hil and sister-in-law Clare.

Joyce was predeceased by her parents Joseph & Violet (McKay) Gillam ; her husband Tom, daughter Marie, sister Claudine, brother Kenneth, parents-in-law Philip & Jessie (Spencer) Matchem.

Many thanks to the staff of Bay St. George Long Term Care Centre for all the love, kindness and excellent care they showed our mother.  Also to Barb whom she shared a room with and her family.

Donations may be made to St. Mary Magdalene Church in Jeffrey’s, NL.

Cremation has taken place at Humber Valley Crematorium, Pasadena, NL

Burial on Monday, October 7, 2024 @ 11:00 a.m. in the Anglican Cemetery in Jeffrey's with Rev. Norman Cutler officiating. 

Please join the family, following the burial, for a celebration of life in the St. Mary Magdalene Church basement  in Jeffrey's.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Stephenville Crossing, NL.
