Emma Diane Barker

(nee Legge)

September 29, 1944 – January 3, 2024

Corner Brook, NL

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Emma Diane Barker announce her passing on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at the Western Long Term Care, Palliative Care Unit at the age of 79 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband of 58 years Bill Barker; children; Debbie (Andrew) McIntosh, Sean Barker and Kelly (Peter) MacLennan; grandchildren: Patrick, Ian, Keegan, Cameron, Emily, Kai, Madden, Sidney and Edie; sisters and brothers: Blanche (Fred) Connors, Regina Batstone, Calvin (Ellen) Legge, Derrek Legge and Linda Ricketts; sisters and brothers-in-law: Elizabeth Baker, Charles (Vina) Barker, Mary Ann (Gerry) Murphy, Reg (Nellie) Barker, Robert (Ruby) Barker and Margaret Barker; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Martha (Curtis) Legge and parents-in-law Bill and Jane (Shears) Barker.

Diane was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.  A natural and compassionate caregiver, she gave of herself through a career in nursing for over 30 years. When she wasn't in her nursing uniform she was tirelessly raising her three children and touching everyone she crossed paths with.

Diane was extremely creative and found many hours of enjoyment quilting, knitting, painting and gardening. After retirement she developed a love for golf and was very proud of her two,

hole-in-ones. Diane was fun loving and always enjoyed getting together with friends and family in Florida and at home. She loved to dance and couldn't resist a shindig. You could always catch her and Bill on the dance floor.

Later in life her favourite pastime was spending as much time as possible spoiling her 9 grandchildren. She had a unique bond with each of them and always found ways to encourage their individual talents and interests.

She will remain forever in the hearts of everyone she touched along her journey, the numbers were many.
