VERDIE ALICE HARRIS (NEE Parsons) Curling, NL It is with great sadness that the family of the late Verdie Harris announce her peaceful passing on Saturday, March 27th, 2010 at the Interfaith Home for Seniors at the age of 93 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her children: Melvin, Hazel Spencer, Sam Harris (Irma), Ron Harris (Laura) and Julie Harris (Dean); 17 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; sisters: Dorothy Christopher, Ettie Stratton (Gerald), Mona Piercey and Doreen Anderson; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Predeceased by her husband Chesley, 1981, son: Cyril, 1995; grandson Dwayne Finlay, 2006 and great grandson Warner Vermett, 2009; brothers: Richard and Gilbert; sister: Jane Parsons; daughters-in-law: Judith Harris and Yvonne Harris; son-in-law: Richard Spencer; parents: Samuel and Julia Parsons. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 218 Curling Street on Monday evening, 7-9:00 p.m. and Tuesday, 2-4 and 7-9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 31st at 2:00 p.m. from the First United Church, Park Street. Reverend Dr. Wayne Cole officiating. Interment to follow at Mt. Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the First United Church Memorial Fund or to the VON Adult Day Care Centre.
