Obituary of Wilson Baggs

 After a courageous 21-year battle with cancer, the family of the late Wilson John Baggs wish to announce his peaceful passing on the morning of September 23rd at the Labrador Health Centre at the age of 69.

Leaving with fond and loving memories are his beloved wife of 48 years: Rowena (Rumbolt); daughter: Cindy (Jamie Williams); granddaughters: Meghan (Nathan Banks), Abby (David Hunter), and Taylor; mother-in-law: Clara Rumbolt; siblings: Frances Jenkins (Eddie), Rita Hynes (Hardy Hopkins), Pansy Elliott (Garland), Hayward (Margaret), Dinzel (Kathy), Edgar (Sheila), Mildred Jennings (Bruce), Jean Froude (Clarence), Clyde (Meshal) and Lora Baggs; sisters-in-law: Miriam Holwell (John), Irene Bird (Silas), and Kathleen Hickey (Peter); brothers-in-law: Kevin Rumbolt (Karen), Ken Rumbolt (Darlene), Ian Rumbolt (Lynette) and Ward Clarke; and a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Wilson was predeceased by his parents Arthur and Vera Baggs, father-in-law Raymond Rumbolt, sister Ada Clarke, and brother-in-law Fred Hynes.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Dr. Charlene Fitzgerald and the staff of the Labrador Health Centre for their tremendous and exceptional care throughout his cancer journey and during his final days in palliative care.

The family is saddened by his passing but even more grateful and thankful for a life well-lived in faithful and consistent service and love for his family, his friends, his church, and his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Visitations will be held at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Happy Valley – Goose Bay  on Sunday, September 24th from the hours of 2:00-4:00 pm for the family and 6:00-8:00 pm for the pubic.

The funeral service will  take place on Monday, September 25th, 2023, at 2:00 pm from the Salvation Army Church, Happy Valley – Goose Bay  with Major Byron Kean officiating.

Interment to follow immediately after the service at the Salvation Army Cemetery.

Wilson left a legacy and example of love and lifetime service to God, his church and the community. In lieu of flowers, any financial gifts in memory of Wilson can be made to the Happy Valley – Goose Bay Salvation Army Community Church.
