It is with great sadness that the family of Emily Jean Batstone announces her peaceful passing on Sunday, August 13th, 2023 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook, NL at the age of 93. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her granddaughter: Denise (Marshall) Horne; grandson: Jeffrey (Catherine) Boland; great-grandchildren: Arya, Audrey, and Charles Boland; brother: Almore (Marie) Warford; sister-in-laws: Angela and Margaret Batstone; as well as a large circle of relatives and friends.

Emily was predeceased by her husband: Frederick Batstone; daughter: Gertrude Batstone; brothers: Harry, William (Beatrice), George (Rosena), Edmund (Margaret) and Nathaniel (Sarah Ann) Warford, and sister: Lillian (Reginald) Palmer; parents: James and Martha Warford; and In-laws: George Batstone, Joseph (Marilyn) Batstone, James Batstone, Dorothy (Chesley) Hounsell, Kathleen (Roy) Locke as well as Kenneth and Selena Batstone.

Emily was born in Brown’s Cove, NL on Sept 19th, 1929.  She and her husband Fred built a home and life in Corner Brook, NL where they raised their only child Gertie, and were actively involved in the lives of their grandchildren Jeff and Denise. A cherished memory that Emily’s grandchildren shared with her is the time they spent camping together at Birchy Lake while growing up. Emily’s presence in the life of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren is treasured. Emily was a pillar of strength and devotion to her friends and family throughout her life.

Emily found deep comfort in the prospect of being reunited with her departed loved ones upon her passing. Her family expects a large welcoming party will be ready and waiting to usher her into the afterlife.

It was Emily’s wish not to have a funeral service. Her family is honouring her wishes and will celebrate her life together in private.
